FLAIRBIRDS 

For 1964 Ford launched the Flairbird to replace the Bullet Bird.  These vehicles reflected some of the styling of the 1958 to 1960 Square Bird in contrast to the sleek Bullet Bird with it's after burner tail lights.

If Bullet Bird's were ready to blast off the Flairbird was in outer space with it's airplane cockpit, levers, round dials and chrome and aluminum dash & wrap around console.

The Development of Thunderbird Styling

Pictured above are three vehicles showing the transition from the 2 seater Thunderbird with the closest one being a 1966 Thunderbird. As you can  see the Thunderbird was  larger and roomier thus losing it's sport car size in favour of taking the family for a Sunday drive.
