In 1958 Ford decided to change the Thunderbird from a two seat luxury sport roadster to a four seat vehicle so that you could take your friends to the country club and put four sets of golf clubs in the trunk to boot.
This vehicle came to be known
as the
"SQUARE BIRD"
Thunderbirds sales sky rocketed proving that the decision for Ford was the right one to make but it was no longer that two seat sporty car that everyone wanted. Now they had children and the new Thunderbird was on it's way towards an ever increasing auto in length and weight. All this happened much to the disappointment of car enthusiast, we might add.
