"MOTHER NATURE" 'Just when you think you're on top of things.....Mother Nature proves you're wrong....again! '
I don’t know about you BUT I never seem to have enuff room for cars, parts and tools! As a result it’s NOT unusual to see more than 1 project car in the driveway, 2 in the garage as well as 1 in a portable garage behind the house. Good thing I don’t have many neighbours, right?
Every year I promise myself I’m going to be better organized. I determine that I need to get started earlier. After all, this is Canada, eh? My Mom used to say ” Life is what happens, when you had other plans! ” Ya know, she was right. One year my plans got delayed due to surgery, another year due to health problems and this past year due to an unexpected need to relocate my shop. Yep, that’s definitely the real world!
I envy those folks who just close up their shops and head to a warmer climate for the winter. Did you ever notice that: ’ The colder the steel gets; the stiffer the fingers become In addition, I have this frustrating problem…..I can get down on the floor to work without any problem. The problem is….without something to grab onto…getting back up to my feet is a monstrous task! In an unheated shop…..Forget it!
I keep promising my wife that I’ll get rid of some cars. This past year I did…........ 4 actually! OMG…that leaves some room to consider something NEW…..she’ll kill me! BUT you know, thinking about a new project and getting excited is what keeps me going. Without it, I think I’d just vegetate!
GOOD NEWS! In spite of…. or because of getting my new pacemaker ( # 2 after having the 1st one for 10 years ); in spite of having to relocate my shop….......Surprise! Surprise! This year everything got stuffed away.
Last year Mother Nature dropped 3" of snow in 1 night on us and that was a disaster! This year I can honestly say ” Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! ” I’ll just sit by the fire and wait for Spring to arrive. I’ll put the sign on the door – ‘Gone ‘til Spring! ‘
Let’s just hope it’s April or May this year, eh?

Steve has become quite the back alley philosopher, here is his latest published article:
' In this hectic world we live in......just remember to.....sit down, kick back and take time to smell the Roses! '
I’m NOT sure where I found this picture BUT I do remember that the piece was ‘For Sale’. The longer I looked at it, the more I realized just how much work must have gone into creating the couch. it’s attractive, stylish and comfortable-looking. It struck me that some very dedicated individual was inspired to take ‘Bullet Bird’ parts and produce this very unique piece. I think it had been in the waiting room of a Shop; maybe a ‘Custom Shop’. Maybe they had a ‘57 Chevy couch coming in to replace this one,eh?
One of my first thoughts was …. I wonder how heavy it would be? How would you move it around? Would it even fit through a normal door opening? Is the price determined as …so much per lb. or by the desirability?
As the thoughts flowed through my mind…....akin to the water flowing over Niagara Falls ( Fast and Furious!), I realized the true value of something like this. It has to be that for somebody, it gives them time to sit, rest and maybe even reflect about Life in general, your current car project or even your next…......all special things in the hectic world of today. Beyond that, when you live in a place where inevitably the snow comes and cars get put away for some months ( like Canada ), you still have something you can see, touch and feel to keep you connected to your hobby. In my case, a similar thing happens through an art piece ‘Yosemite Sam Radoof’ created for us from a rear fender quarter that is painted and flamed to match our ‘54 Vicky.
All in all, the conclusion I made was…. for the right person with the right location and (probably ) deep pockets, this would be a T-Bird Guy’s ‘Keeper’.........well, for me anyway!

Don't take my parking space!
Elsie, an elderly lady, stopped to drive into a parking space when a young man in his brand new silver BMW drove around her and parked in the space that she had been waiting for. Elsie was so angered that she approached the young fellow and enquired, through gritted teeth, ‘I was about to park there.’
The man looked at her with disdain and replied, ‘That’s what you can do when you’re young and bright.’
This annoyed Elsie even more, so she got back in her car, backed it up and then she stamped on the accelerator and rammed straight into his BMW.
The young man ran back to his car and shouted in a stunned voice,
‘What did you do that for?’
Elsie smiled at him and said, ‘That’s what you can do when

No! No! No! ALL '65 Thunderbird 'Special Landaus' were Embergo & Parchment!
O.K., so I lied! OR did I? According to the Ford H.O. Records, all the ‘Special Landaus’ ( 10th Anniversary T-Birds -4500 units ) were Emberglo with Parchment vinyl tops….....or so they thought! BUT hey, it was 1965 and people in high places with the proper connections could still get things done, right? Just suppose….What IF you were the owner of a large Trucking Firm that ONLY used WHITE Ford Trucks? Do ya see where I’m going with this? What IF you call a buddy in the Ford H.O. in Wixom, Michigan and say ” You want MY business….100+ trucks; I want a WHITE ‘Special Landau’!.....NO excuses!”
Sooo, Isn’t it possible? More than that…..isn’t it probable? Yeah, I think you’re right…....he got what he wanted! Seems he may NOT have been alone either; regardless of Ford’s denials.
When I was writing a history of the ‘Special Landau’, a chap from Arizona (as I recall) sent me the accompanying picture. Was it the Truck Company owner’s car? We’ll NEVER know for sure, BUT kinda tells you how things were different…..’Back in the Day’,
It was ‘For Sale’. Ya don’t suppose a family member would have bought it back, do you? I wonder?
