Every year the SOTC hosts and participates in a number of events around the Province to display and enjoy driving our Thunderbirds, after all they were made to drive and we certainly do that!
Below is our scheduled 2011 events listed to date:
Once again, the Craig Royce Annual Tech Day will be held at Royce Auto Service at the N.E. corner of Trafalgar Rd. & Steeles Ave. in Hornby (Milton). Our lovely hostess Betty Royce has agreed to allow us to use her facilities to provide our members with a great venue to gather and discuss Thunderbird repairs under the direction of Martin Brugmans and Mort White. This is an open forum for all Thunderbird enthusiasts to come, learn and participate.
Things get started around 9:00 a.m. and go to noon. One additional feature is our Out of the Trunk sale and swap meet, so if you have some parts you don't need bring them along or if you are looking for some Thunderbird parts they might just be there for you.
This is a new event this year that is being organized by our Central Co-Ordinator Steve Taylor. This Sunday event is designed for those Thunderbird enthusiasts in the Greater Toronto Area to get together as part of a larger car show with special parking for our T-Birds. Our host will be Sky's Restaurant at Dixie & Eglinton Avenues in Mississauga. Start time is 9:00 a.m. with early Bird's being offered a two for one breakfast special for our members only. So get the Bird out of the garage, bring your significant other and enjoy and be part of a large car show with some great old time Rock & Roll tunes. Enjoy the day of fun and fellowship that is the SOTC.
This event has been well attended for the past 7 years and is considered the largest single gathering of antique, classic, vintage and hot rod cars in Canada that last year saw over 3,000 cars in attendance.
For information about the event go to www.fleetwoodcountrycruizein.com
SOTC has been the feature club each year for many years which has gained us the honour of parking on the Steve Plunkett's golf course the best spot in the house so to speak.
June 4th, 2011,
We will be gathering at the Loblaw's Super Store at 1205 Oxford Street, West, London N6H 1V9, at 7:00 a.m. to caravan as a group which will allow us to park together. If you are late arriving you may not be allowed to park with the club .......... so come early departure time is 7:15 a.m. sharp.
This is our 14th annual Bayfield event and our largest single gathering of the year. All Thunderbird enthusiasts are welcome, even if you aren't a member bring your T-Bird into the park and join us in this special celebration of 32 years of SOTC.
There will be music by our usual D.J. Ken, door prizes, food and great fun, fun, fun for Thunderbird enthusiasts young and old. This is an all day event but come early as things get started around 9:00 a.m. as it is first come, first served to get the good shady spots under the trees and near the band stand. There is lots to see and do in this quaint old town on Lake Huron with shopping for the ladies and great patio restaurants on the main street.
Festivities usually rap up around 4:00 p.m. so plan to stay for dinner afterward at a local restaraunt, the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Come and help us meet our goal of 100 Thunderbirds on display.
Caravan to Bayfield:
For anyone in the Chatham/Leamington/Windsor area, I will be starting up a group to caravan to Bayfield, departing at 7:00 a.m. from the Loblaws Super Store parking lot on St. Clair Ave. N., Chatham (Hwy. 40). Plan to meet around 6:45 a.m. for a quick gathering.
